On Sunday 19th May, Moray Reach Out had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Gordon Castle Highland Games, held from 10am to 5pm. This vibrant event featured traditional Highland Games competitions, a bustling Country Sports arena, a variety of local trade stands, and an abundance of delicious food, making it a perfect day out for the whole family.
We were thrilled and grateful that the organisers were able to squeeze us into the event. Representing Moray Reach Out were Jon and Shona, who did a fantastic job showcasing our work and products. Their enthusiasm and dedication were evident as they interacted with attendees and shared our mission.
One of the highlights for us was bringing along our handcrafted kids’ picnic tables. It was heartwarming to see children and families admiring them throughout the day. These tables, made with care and precision by our talented trainees, perfectly illustrated the quality and craftsmanship we strive for at Moray Reach Out.
We owe a huge thank you to Karen McKilligan and our dedicated trainees for their invaluable assistance in transporting the gazebo and MRO products and to Jon and Annie for setting up an impressive display of MRO products. Their hard work ensured that our presence at the Games was both professional and inviting. On the day, we successfully raised awareness of our initiatives and sold a variety of MRO products, which were met with great enthusiasm by attendees.
A special thank you goes out to all of the staff, volunteers, and trainees who helped create and prepare all of the products we brought to the event. Your commitment and hard work are the backbone of Moray Reach Out, and your contributions made our participation in the Games a success.
The interest and support we received from both local and international visitors was so encouraging. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share what we do, and we are grateful for the positive feedback we received.
Attending the Gordon Castle Highland Games was not only a fantastic way to connect with the community but also a chance to highlight the incredible work of our trainees. We look forward to participating in more events like this in the future, continuing to empower adults with learning disabilities and showcasing their remarkable talents.
