Meet The Team
We were delighted to welcome officers from the Police Scotland North East Preventions Team to both of our Moray Reach Out sites for a special ‘Meet the Team’ experience.
The sessions were designed to be fun, informal and educational, giving our trainees the opportunity to get to know their local police officers in a relaxed setting while learning more about the important work they do within our communities.
Officers Richard Russell, Rachel and Rory began by refreshing everyone’s knowledge on what to do in an emergency, including when to call 999, when 101 is the more appropriate number, and how the police can help in different situations. Trainees were encouraged to ask questions throughout, creating open conversations and helping to build confidence in accessing support when needed.
One of the highlights of the day was getting hands-on with some of the police equipment. Everyone had the chance to try on different pieces of police uniform, including riot gear, and even experience using handcuffs under the officers’ supervision. There was plenty of laughter as everyone embraced the opportunity to see what it’s like to wear the equipment used by police officers.
The fun continued outside, where the officers had brought a police vehicle to both of our locations. They demonstrated how the vehicle is used in their day-to-day work, explained some of the equipment it carries, and even gave everyone the chance to hear the police sirens in action – a definite favourite with our trainees!
The sessions were both informative and enjoyable, helping everyone learn more about policing while showing just how approachable and friendly our local officers are. Experiences like these help break down barriers, build trust and encourage positive relationships within our community.
This is just the beginning of what we hope will be an ongoing partnership with Police Scotland. We are currently looking at working together to deliver future workshops covering topics such as online safety, scams, fraud awareness and other important ways to stay safe.

These workshops will include:
- An accessible session specifically designed for adults with disabilities.
- A separate session for parents, carers and support workers
Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for announcements – we look forward to sharing more details soon.
A special thank you goes to Richard Russell for working alongside Megan Fairley, Moray Reach Out’s Healthier Lives Co-ordinator, to plan and organise this fantastic visit. Their collaboration helped create a truly valuable experience for everyone involved.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Richard, Rachel and Rory for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit both of our locations and deliver such an engaging and worthwhile session. Their enthusiasm, patience and willingness to answer questions made the experience memorable for our trainees, and we are incredibly grateful for their support. We look forward to continuing our partnership and welcoming them back in the future.
