I’ve been meaning to reach out and say a special ‘hello’ to Jon at Moray Reach Out in appreciation for the lovely Shetland wool sweater that you have created and I am wearing in this photo.
My husband and I travelled to Scotland this past summer and came across your piece in The Caledonian Wool Co in Fort William. It’s been keeping me warm & cozy these cold fall Canadian days.
I’d love to see a picture of the sheep from which this wool was made. Thank you!
Response from Jon Reeves:
Brilliant! , Thank you so much for taking the time to get in touch with us, it means a great deal to all the team at Moray Reach Out to receive wonderful positive feedback. And there is something very special to see a jumper we have created, being really appreciated on the other side of the world.
The wool for your jumper would have come from one of this gang of Shetland sheep , probably the one on the left with the sticky up horn, I do remember his fleece being particular good. Each year when we are shearing we are able to select 5 or so fleeces that are amazingly soft, great colour and texture, which we can spin straight from the fleece to create wool of the type for your jumper. The other 40 or so fleeces get washed, teased and carded by the team at MRO and spun into more traditional wool hanks.
